Born and raised in Foz do Iguaçu, the daughter of Paraguayan parents, Dr. Melinda Mallorquin Cabral carries in her story the influence of different cultures, also reflected in her fluency in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Her choice of Medicine came from a defining family experience: the early loss of her sister Carol, at two years old. That experience awakened the wish to follow a profession dedicated to caring for people and became one of the great motivations of her path.
Her path to Medicine was marked by determination and persistence. After finishing high school, she moved to Florianópolis, where she prepared for the university entrance exams. She studied Business Administration for two years, but never gave up on her dream of becoming a doctor. After years of dedication, she earned her place at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), where she graduated in 2017.
After graduating, she returned to her hometown, where she completed her medical residency in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at Hospital Ministro Costa Cavalcanti, now Hospital Itamed. Since then, she has been part of the Vita Imagem team.
In Radiology, she found a specialty that brings together technology, knowledge and care. She believes in the importance of diagnostic imaging at every stage of health, from prevention and early detection of diseases to the follow up of treatments.
She currently works at Torre Marechal, Hospital Unimed and Hospital Itamed, performing CT scans, general and Doppler ultrasound, obstetric and fetal anatomy ultrasound, mammography and X-rays.
Outside Medicine, her greatest joy is her family, especially her children, Miguel and Lara, who changed the way she sees life and her priorities.
A lover of animals since childhood, she has always had a special fondness for dogs, especially those she found on the streets and ended up taking in.
Sports are also part of her story. She has surfed and represented Foz do Iguaçu in basketball. Today, she finds in the gym and in beach tennis a way to care for her physical and mental health, as well as to build good friendships. In quieter moments, she enjoys being with her family, caring for her plants and savoring life’s small pleasures.
Her path is marked by perseverance, love for her family and the conviction that Medicine goes far beyond exams: it is also a way of caring for people.
