Mammography is a low dose X-ray exam, essential for screening and early diagnosis of breast changes, including breast cancer in its early stages.
At Vita Imagem, the exam is done with digital equipment.
Indications
yearly screening from age 40 (or as advised by your doctor), investigation of lumps, breast changes and follow up after treatment.

Before the exam
- On the day of the exam, do not use deodorant, cream, talc or perfume on the breasts and armpits: they can interfere with the exam.
- If you might be pregnant, tell the team before the exam.

What to bring
- Medical order (authorized, if through a health plan), photo ID and CPF. They are required at the time of the exam.
- If needed, the health plan form, card and authorized form.
- Previous exams of the area to be examined (if you have them).
- Patients under 18 must be with their parent or legal guardian, bringing an ID, school card or birth certificate.

On the day of the exam
- For some exams you need to change into a clinic gown.
- You will be positioned in the machine by the radiology technician or the nursing technician.
- Stay still in the position you are given, breathing calmly.
